Principal Investigator

Mohamed El-Shahawy, MD has over 30 years of experience and practice in Internal Medicine and Nephrology. In addition to honors in the medical field including the Phi Kappa Phi Society, he obtained Masters degrees in Public Health and in Health Administration at the University of Southern California. 

Dr. El-Shahawy is board-certified in internal medicine and nephrology and is a UNOS-certified transplant nephrologist. He completed his residency in internal medicine at St. Mary's Hospital/Yale University School of Medicine. Dr. El-Shahawy went on to complete a fellowship in nephrology and transplantation at the University of Pittsburgh in Pennsylvania and a fellowship in nephrology at USC Medical Center/Keck School of Medicine of USC.

As a certified Principal Investigator, Dr. El-Shahawy has been conducting clinical research since 1989. His research is centered around patients with kidney disease and its complications.
